2 cups cornmeal
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 T. sugar
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup buttermilk 
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup melted butter
1 egg 
In a medium bowl, sift together with a wire whisk or a slotted spoon, cornmeal, flour, baking power, salt, and sugar; Add onions, buttermilk and water; mix well. Add butter and egg. Blend. Don't over mix, small lumps are ok. Drop by Tablespoons into a pre-heated deep fat fryer of olive oil, { or any oil you prefer } 370°. Cook until golden brown. Serve hot with butter and honey. Yield; about 30 hush puppies. 
 Make your own butter milk;
1 cup sweet milk
1 T. lemon juice or vinegar 
Stir together and let set 5 minutes

Side;
Fat free butter milk  Margarine
2 egg whites
